COACHINGCorporate and life coaching helps managers and executives gain clarity on their most important personal and professional goals and helps them craft an action plan. The coach becomes a behind the scenes partner that supports, provides accessibility, accountability and focus. The services are typically provided by telephone and supplemented by e-mail. Services may be contracted on a one to one basis, for a team within a corporation and/or for an entire company. Life coaching takes the process to the next level; it helps the executive move toward total balance in life. COACHING OVERVIEW WHAT: Professional Coaching helps a client get clear
on his or her most important goals and craft an action plan with the coach
becoming a behind the scenes partner that supports, provides accessibility,
accountability and focus. Coaching borders on several professional roles:
mentoring, consultation, solution/focused counseling and leading. Coaching may
address specific personal projects, business successes or general conditions in
a client’s life or profession. Other coaching services include values
clarification, brainstorming, identifying plans of action, examining modes of
operating in life, asking clarifying questions and making empowering requests.
It is not advice giving, psychotherapy or psychological counseling. Coaching
involves an intentional, conscious relationship as a partner. It is much more
active than traditional therapy and the focus goes beyond the time boundaries of
the session. HOW: The services are typically provided by telephone and supplemented by e-mail. At times face-to-face meetings are held. The process includes the use of exploratory and Socratic questions, imagery, behavioral and task requests, various assessment tools, sharing of information by the coach in areas he or she has expertise, follow-up and feedback. Goals are client (individual or team) determined and driven, but may include aspects of an individual assessment by the coach and standardized inventories or other assessment instruments of leadership, conflict styles, communication styles, life balance, etc. This format can be adapted to work with a team within an organization or for an entire organization. WITH WHOM: Services may be contracted on a one to one basis, for a team within a corporation and/or for an entire company. For individual coaching, meetings are set up with the client calling the coach at an arranged time and number. E-mail is used between phone sessions for a variety of activities including questions by the client, client follow-up on how various activities and tasks went and to provide information prior to each session to help the coach focus the session on client needs. Typically sessions are once every one or two weeks for 30,45, 60 or 90 minutes (the longer sessions are more often used for group sessions). Over time, the frequency of sessions is spread out.
